I’ll Give You 20 for Our 7

In a great synchronicity of minds, boomer experts of all stripes are looking forward to what’s next for the boomer generation. You hopefully saw the research on which FH Boom collaborated with Natural Marketing Institute’s proprietary Healthy Aging/Boomer™ (HAB) research project of 3,193 Americans, in which we took a sneak peak at 2016, when the first boomers turn 70.

"For the rest of today's blog, continue at The Boomer Blog"

Not to be outdone, MetLife and AARP are matching our 7 and raising it 13 with the first major ethnographic study of baby boomers “The Next 20 Years.” (Okay, so the studies were undertaken simultaneously, so back to the synchronicity angle…) You can catch the study via IMMN webinar on April 15 at 11 a.m. Eastern. Presenters include Dr. John Migliaccio, director of research at MetLife's Mature Market Institute, followed by commentary and implications for present-day boomers by my good friend and boomer expert extraordinaire: Chuck Nyren. (“Advertising to Baby Boomers.”) Chuck will share his opinions on word-of-mouth marketing to boomers, both onlineand off.

I got a sneak preview of the material at the What’s Next (appropriately named!) Boomer Summit, of which FH Boom was a sponsor. Migliaccio, who was a leader of the study conducted by The Institute for the Future, includes a look at 10 baby boomer "action types," boomer life themes, and a forecast of the long-term impact baby boomers will have on their living environments. Fascinating stuff—with way cool charts.

Tune in shortly for a highlight and a low light from this study.
