No threats, no complaints, no false promises – nothing but a transaction. Because my Dad was a contractor, all our home repairs and improvements were orchestrated by him. I mistakenly thought that’s what men did and fairly or unfairly expected my ex to do the same which he either did with an attitude and a chip on his shoulder – or not at all.
Our houses fell apart around us and our lawns looked like they needed rusted washing machines and car parts to complete the vignette. Like all else I’ve been experiencing and learning in the last year, I realize I can have my home repaired, amenities installed and siding power washed without expectations or procrastination. Every little achievement builds on the one before it – every major decision gives me confidence I can do more.
