Marketing Experts Zero in on Boomers
William Arnold
The Arizona Republic
April 24, 2007

Overview: Arnold reports, “Newspaper ads for local supermarkets are examples of targeted marketing. One company has a section devoted to healthy lifestyles -- products for the baby boomer market. Yet, every generation believes the media aren't marketing to its age group. The older population feels that it is overlooked in favor of the boomer. The boomer feels that he or she is neglected in favor of the Gen-Xer.” Additionally, Arnold shares thoughts from Brent Green and Ken Dychtwald. Specifically, he writes, “Green believes that some of the marketing attempts fail to pinpoint what motivates boomers. Not all boomers want to drive a car because it offers a status appeal. Some might want something that is more environmentally friendly.”
