Maybe you're one of them, or maybe you're eager for new gear but are just looking for the right advice or opportunity to buy in.” Wilson also shares the latest technology trends and offers a “cool-boomer solution” to each trend.

The 'generation gap'? It's today's workplace
Jim Lindgren
Indianapolis Star
February 14, 2007

Overview: This piece focuses on the generational gap in the workplace. Lindgren reports, “Gen Xers and Gen Yers often think boomers and radio babies are too old to learn anything new, can't handle technology and are stuck in their ways. The older generations think Xers and Yers have no work ethic, are crybabies, want immediate gratification and don't want to work hard.”

the 'generation gap' - it's today's workplace

Sorry to say the artilce seemed to go in serveral directions at one time. At best it seemed to support the old saw that generalizations tend to be inaccurate. The attitude toward work in booomers, x'ers and y'ers varies by the individual and their up bringing.

For my own generalization I think that attitude has more to do with the mother's attitude toward work than the father's. If mom is seen to work hard, either at home or outside, the kids take it as a challenge. On the other hand I know a family where the mother works like a dog and the dad is a slacker. The kids are slackers too.

Well, so much for my generalization.
